San Galgano Abbey & Villa Podernovo

Updated: Apr 20, 2020

I was over the moon when Jessica & Nigel asked me to photograph their wedding, I instantly started to google the venues and my goodness, It took my breath away and I was so excited, firstly planning all the different images I could capture secondly I got a sneaky weekend away in my favourite country, Italy that I could chalk up to work!

I can honestly say it didn't disappoint. San Galgano Abbey is the place the legend of the sword in the stone was born. It is a beautiful Abbey that is made even more dramatic for the fact it is slightly worse for ware, missing sections of the roof. It is just the most romantic and stunning backdrop for a marriage ceremony.

For the wedding breakfast and the evening celebrations we headed to Vila Podernovo, which is a typical Italian villa nestled in amongst Olive and Lemon groves tall pine trees and rolling hills. You really couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting if you are looking at getting married in Tuscany, We were also very blessed with the weather, on my arrival I was very worried as a thunder storm hit like nothing I had ever seen before and the rain was torrential. Again on the morning of the wedding there was thunder clapping all around us, but as soon as it was time to head to the Abbey the skies cleared and we had the best day as you will see from the pictures.
